Warning: If you have a weak stomach, and stuff grosses you out, don't read or look any further! And please don't tell me I didn't warn you!
This post is not for the weak. Out of nowhere, Ginger got a huge planter's wart underneath her heel. We started treating it about a month ago. Once in a while a layer of skin would peel off, where we had applied the medicine. The wart was strong, and didn't budge. Until today. Another layer of skin was peeling off, and I could tell that the wart was attached to it. So I pulled, and pulled again, and again. Finally a big chunk of the wart came off. Unfortunately I made my sweet Ginger cry. I guess it wasn't quite ready to come out....
The part that came out looked super crazy. There were these tentacles like spikes that drove into the deep part of the flesh. Some of the tentacles didn't come out with the wart, so I applied some more medicine, and hopefully those parts will come out soon too.
I was just so fascinated with how gross this thing was, that I wanted to have a closer look. With no magnifying glass, but with a camera and a macro lens, the best solution was a close-up picture. You can kind of see the tentacles that each individually were "hammered" into her foot.
Now for the most disturbing part of the story. After I took the picture, I sat back down on the couch, and when I glanced over to the table, the wart was gone! I must have brushed up against it when I turned around with my blanket or something.... I was so freaked out about not being able to find it, that I got the vacuum out and vacuumed the whole living room. I can't imagine accidentally touching that thing, or even stepping on it. Yuck.

That is disgusting! You should have saved it to show the doctor because that is truly gross! poor ginger
eeewwww I can't get it out of my mind. Thanks alot!!!
Gross!! I agree with Wendy. But you can still go and see a doctor right? I know I would. And I certainly wouldn't apply anything I wasn't absolutely sure of of being harmless on an open wound myself. Have you considered the possibility that it might make matters worse?
Poor Ginger. I hope it'll get better soon.
Wendy - sorry it grossed you out, but don't say I didn't warn you!
Bea- the doctor will just either burn it off or use liquid ice to do the same. The only thing this medicine does, is similar to burning it off, by killing the skin it touched. I don't see a reason to see a doctor for that.
Are you sure you vacuumed it up?
These things tend to crawl around and multiply....
Love dadder!!!
OK I have to agree this is gross, and yes you warned us. But like the moths to a flame... The only thing I have experienced this gross was whn Audree was about 10-11 she had a wart, we trated it and it fell off. Only I was in Canada on a wonderfuly trip with Cody and she saved it for me to see when I got home, don't ya just love kids!
I chose to look-- but gag.
That is way scary, I've never seen a wart like that!
Brian said you should never pull a wart off because if you do it will spread. Also It reminds me of the end of a green onion with the tentacles and all.. Still gross but now I am interested what ginger's foot looks like. I know I am weird... but I am your sister andyou are the one that put the pic up, haha
I was wondering if you're supposed to pull warts off. Naomi has one that I've been treating for like 3 months now and it's getting smaller but I can't imagine ripping it off. ..Then again, I think it's pretty clear that Ginger is a whole lot tougher than Naomi...
It had practically fallen off most of the way. I think only 1 of those poky things was still attached.
The Pokey thing is actually how the wart feeds it's self from your blood source--So it's great that so many came out-They are actually probably little individual warts that have jsut fused together after destroyign the tissue at the surface-
You have to treat the remaining one---or it will just come back--but you have to be so careful--Warts don't have nerve endigns--but the skin around them does--so if you get any medicine on the area around it --Ginger will scream--
Also make sure you bleach your shower after she baths--There is actually wart virus everywhere--in the ground etc---but the shower is a petri dish to infect everyone else--any small cut or sliver on your foot make you vulnerable--
BTW I think your post is digustingly AWESOME!! I LOVE IT!! The body is amazing and you have to celebrate the tenacity of the wart virus--If only we were so hardy--right?? lol
Okay i know gross--the part where you lost the wart would have creeped me out though--
